Say hello to the Shameless Book Club.
(It says an overenthusiastic ‘hi’ back, fellow bookworms!)
At the beginning of every month, Zara, Mich and Annabelle select a monthly fictional read for the Shameless community to devour. Then, at the end of the month, there will be a bumper Shameless podcast episode, where we share exactly what we thought, hear your opinions and hot takes on the plot and characters, and announce what book will be coming up next. The Shameless Media team has a very, very deep love for reading. If you do too, then we’d bloody love to have you.

Our first pick of the year was Tom Lake by Ann Patchett; a meditation on youthful love, married love, and the lives parents have led before their children were born. In the spring of 2020, Lara’s three daughters return to the family's orchard in Northern Michigan. While picking cherries, they beg their mother to tell them the story of Peter Duke, a famous actor with whom she shared both a stage and a romance years before at a theater company called Tom Lake. As Lara recalls the past, her daughters examine their own lives and relationship with their mother, and are forced to reconsider the world and everything they thought they knew.
We are so thrilled to bring you this interview with lifestyle editor and writer, Gyan Yankovich. Gyan is a lifestyle editor for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, and has just published her first novel. Just Friends explores modern friendship: what it means to be a friend, lose a friend, and everything in between.
